If you scroll down a few posts on the International forum you will find this one by Alan Treasure Talk - Alan February 16, 2013, 3:28 pmHe posted a picture of the front page of one of my earlier Treasure Talk Newsletters (August 1999). It shows the finalists in our then yearly South African “ Best Find of the Year” competition. His picture has now been deleted by photo bucket but I scanned this pic from one of my copies... And cropped it to this one ... In a reply to Alan’s post I said “ I bought the big 6-carat Tourmaline - the huge green stone in the ugly ring - on the picture on the left from Andy who detected it whilst SCUBAing in a tidal pool Hermanus about 8 to 10 years ago (sic – it was at least 14 years ago!!) ... ” Here are two pictures from way back then from Treasure Talk reporting on the find – Andy’s entry for best find of the year was entrant “D” Like I said, I bought the stone from Andy and had it reset in white gold as a 20th wedding anniversary gift to my wife in 2006. Tonie then asked if I could show some pictures of the “new” ring. Well, here they are ... Regards Pierre

From the land of the Bluenose.....man that is one honker of a ring. Thanks for posting Pierre. Photobucket is without a doubt gone downhill in the last year and harder to use. Planning your next S.A. dig?

WOW. You turned something that looked pretty ugly into something very nice. The setting really shows off the stone.
