Ok fellow diggers, here's the deal...
This is gonna be the first of many weekend compos, hosted by yours truly myself. The prize is not that great, but its open to one and all. It's not about the greatest quantity or value, but it is about the oldest. Yes that's right, a prize for the oldest coin or the oldest artifact of my choosing for a weekend. That means a weekend dig, Saturday or Sunday, not a Friday ... sorry Les lol.
Here are the rules...
1)You must be a member of the forum.
2)The item must be dug on the Saturday or Sunday of the compo.
3)Please don't use anything from your existing collection.
4)Please post a picture of the artifact on this thread by 7pm Sunday.
5)Get out there and dig and have fun doing it.
6)I am allowed to enter myself and my decision is final lol.
The prize will be ... drum roll ... drinks all round(as long as its guinness) at a watering hole(preferably somewhere around Halifax) on me! and maybe some pringles lol
So the First Weekend Compo will be for the oldest ... hmmmm ... hmmmm ... dime! I don't really care if not many peeps enter but I will buy drinks for everyone who does. I just hope the weather is fine and we all just get out and DIG!!!
Cheers!

Game on!
So I was diggin like James Bond, licence to swing, when I met my new best friend Kermit. He told me about his adventures like when he lost a leg to a giant worm, and the time he met Donald Fagen of Steely Dan. This crazy frog rocks!
Anyways, dug the most coins ... 16 pennies, 2 nickels, 2 dimes and 2 quarters. Is there a name for diggin 22 coins (like 2 little ducks, quack quack)? Not quite a quarter or half a quota but pretty good for me.
Closeup of dimes for compo to follow...

This is a great idea! I hope that many people strive to be included. You made me go out in the rain, and be happy about it! I found 14 dimes this weekend, the oldest of which was only 1968. I hope someone else finds an older one. My haul for the weekend can be seen in 'in port finds' Let us know when and where you are meeting the winner, and I'll try to drop around to meet you guys. I'm fairly new here and have yet to meet most of you.
keep digging. coinguy

Congrats coinguy!
You win the first ever Weekend Compo! You beat me by 1 year.
We will try and organise a meetup later in the week with Les and any one else who is thirsty. The first round will be on me!
Maybe I will make the next compo a bit more challenging for everyone.
Cheers!
