Having sailed the Lahave Islands numerous times and knowing of the rum running and Privateering that took place off the coves and inlets of the South Shore there have to be some remnants of those past glory days out there among those beaches. Having charts , GPS & chart plotter systems to navigate today can still prove a challenge to get around the Islands, I can't even imagine trying to thread your way through some of those areas in a storm or fog with only sail power.
I'm not saying there are caches of gold, silver and jewels, strewn on the sands , but I can't help think that there aren't some interesting coins or relics waiting to be discovered.Just look at some of the finds they've made at Oak Island. I can't believe there aren't other islands around here hiding some interesting secrets.
The Marine Heritage Database lists some 5000 shipwrecks off of Nova Scotia but estimate that there may be as many as 25,000, as many went unreported ... dating back to the 1580's !

Come on now guys its all a big scam there is no treasure so they found a Spanish coin and every one is jumping up and down on the show thinking they are close to the treasure Slickpick Rick and I each found a Spanish Silver coin in a farmers field outside of Kentville so there must be treasure there 200 feet down, . So give your heads a shake its like Rick said nobody goes to that much trouble to bury something that you are coming back for. Although I know a guy who knows a guy who heard from a guy about a guy who knows.

It's pretty far fetched but I still enjoy the show. The brother's are very passionate about the search and I do think they genuinely believe in the treasure. They wouldn't have dumped in millions of dollars just to get this little TV show, I'm sure there isn't that much money in the show. It's like ANY reality TV, the producers are going to create a buzz over any find.
Do I believe the legend? No, but that doesn't mean I can't enjoy the show OR that I am going to mock people who believe in the Legend.

Remember those two cowboys own the controlling shares of Oak Island Tours, so they have a vested interest in keeping the myth alive and well. I still enjoy watching the show...

I'm re-posting this link and once again mention Occams Razor: the philosophical idea or scientific principle that of any given set of explanations for an event occurring, it is most likely that the simplest one is the correct one. Occam's razor does not seek to offer complete and absolute proof, but to find the simplest probable answer to a question of why an event happened. www.csicop.org/si/show/secrets_of_oak_island/That's my two cents, well it is the second time I posted it, so I guess it's my four cents ;-)
