Anyone bother with rechargeable batteries in their gear? The ATP takes 4 x AA, which cost me about $12 for two dozen at Costco. Is it worth the bother? I know they're probably only half the run time and a lower voltage (not sure if that had a bearing on digital MDs) too.

I bought two sets for my ATP last spring , I think it's worth it, expensive up front but the energizers I bought last long, and they are warranted.

Rechargeable batteries are okay in a fix but tend not to take you up to the full bars on the Pro...carry them for when nothing else is around. Look around and some good buys on double AAs at time.

I don't have any problems running them in my ATP , sure they don't hold the full bar long but regular batteries drop off the top bar fast as well, I haven't had any loss in performance from using them.

High quality (duracell pro cell) throw aways bought at the right place will give you an operating cost of less than 10 cents per hour. For me 10 cents an hour is a non issue and more than worth it for the full voltage, and peace of mind knowing I'm getting full performance. Way less than a double double timmys.
That said I see nothing wrong with them if you like them, and will eventually pay for themselves, remember to keep them charged too as I found the trouble is when they go dead, so are your spares just from sitting around, and I have to get some throw aways to get going again anyway, "emergencies" bought at a corner store are very costly.

Kirklands own AA's are made by Duracell for a lot less. I run them in everything and see no difference in performance between them and the name-brand cells. I sure like the idea of rechargables but have had luke-warm results in the past. My Canon camera took 12 AA's so I switched to Panasonic industrial NiMH rechargables and I found a huge difference in longevity. Maybe got 50-60% of the run time of alkalines, so been wary since. DS

They don't last as long as normal batteries but i always have my spare set charged so it doesn't bother me.
