Ok, I going to coin a new phrase here (pardon the pun) as I find myself in the situation more and more as the summer activities and responsibilities eat into my detecting time. I call it micro-digs where you just hit a spot quick and see what you can find in a short period of time. The key to sucess though is hedging your bets by doing your research first. So today after I had lunch I decided to hit a spot that I'd done some research on, examined it on Google maps and had a good idea that there might be something there. Well, thank you for the advice Leslie as it worked like a charm. I quickly found a few clad coins, nothing old but then I got a nice 1940 Canadian penny. Cool, there is old stuff in this seemingly modern area. Next target was a 1952 British half penny. Then it was time to go back to work, total time away about 15 minutes but scored a cool older coin.
