So I have ordered a new button for my Pro Pointer but even once I fix it (if I can) I'd like to purchase another brand and use one or the other for a back up. I have been thinking about the new Whites TRX but see this unit looks promising : www.makrodetector.com/makro-pointer-metal-detector.htmlIt is of course WaterProof to 1 meter which is a huge bonus. I also like how it comes with replacement covers , reminds me of a coil cover only for a Pin Pointer. This is still so new the verdict is still out on how it will hold up over time, but I have seen a couple reviews on YouTube and like the performance. The TRX is more sensitive but running it on too high of a setting causes lots of falsing which is a concern. Looking forward to more reviews on this.

waterproof seems like a no-brainer, hopefully Garrett will do something with the propointer.

Kinda cool looking. Who deals then around here? Are they made in Turkey?

Hold judgement on this issue as I'm not a fan of pinpointers. Be forwarned also of things made overseas.

Not sure that there is a Canadian dealer. I have seen them for sale on Ebay though. As for being made in Turkey, Makro already makes Metal Detectors so it's not their first time at it. They seem to be pretty good performing detectors. For the price and a 2 year Warranty I think it "Looks" to be a decent unit. Here is a good review:

You know, I would try one. I hate to say it (cover your ears Rick!) but the Europeans are decades ahead of us with nearly everything, I wouldn't be suprised if they made a better PP or MD than what we have available. I've looked at some European MDs and I'd love to try one to see how they compare as they have all kinds of features not seen on any Garrett or Omega. The major snag is warranty. MDs and PPs have to be one of the most abused pieces of gear I own. Having to send my machine to Turkey for repair would be a major pain.
What's your thoughts on the matter Rick, ever deal with these European rigs? BTW, I'd buy one of these PP's if you brought them in...
Cheers, DS

I questioned about the Warranty repair over on TNET and one of the venders on there said they would be serviced in the US.

Tempting... I'd like to try their detectors to compare.
Problem is my Garrett PP is working fine.

I only found out about these recently, I guess they first made the NA appearance like a couple of months ago.
Anyway I did just get a couple. I agree with what ND said in the other thread about these, they look, and feel well made.
I like that you can turn the light off, and the sound too if you want.
Definitely has more range than the Garrett. Quite a bit more.
If I had to say anything negative about it it does take longer to start-up, and shut down than the Garrett.
Price will be 155.00 out the door.
