Awesome spot to get your feet wet. Having a place close by when you only have an hour or two to spare can really help. They say it takes about a hundred hours before you really get comfortable with your detector, you'll be well on your way by the time next season starts.
Well I got out to do a little swinging in the back yard .. holy crap my arm got tired quick ! Was flopping back and forth from Pro to Standard modes in zero. Had the ID set around 28 , and managed to pick up some 70 - 90 reading but unable to pinpoint. Would lose the target. Also appears that items are deep as well. No digging involved today ...still fun as hell tho ! Felt like Pavlov's Dog ... hey that would be a good id name ... Dig every time I hear a high tone ! 100 hours you say ... dare to dream !
Hey whats the going rate on a Plug Monkey anyways ?

It's that stock coil that's the killer. I swing that thing for an hour and it feels like I have carpal tunnel syndrome. Put the baby coil on it and you'll last longer and the pinpointing is way easier. The depth does suffer a bit, but really, do you want to be digging horseshoes 12" down? I never take mine off unless I'm in a big field and CG is on the other side making jokes about the size of my coil...

Sort of warming up to my Pro even though it has been to the factory 4 times for repair. As a land machine she gets great depth but for water...I don't take it there and use my pulse induction Seahunter MK11...doesn't mind salt water at all.
From the land of the Bluenose.....life is a beach at least till the tide comes in and the Bud is all gone!
