Being an Air Force brat and growing up in the Kingston - Greenwood area back in the 60's and 70's I don't ever recall any mention of a horsetrack in Greenwood. What I do remember is that there used to be the Meadowvale Raceway on the Meadowvale Road , just off the Torbrook Road. A quick look at Google satellite imagery, and I can make out what appaers to possibly be renants of the old track ... can't be 100% sure ... but if my photo interp is what it used to be there 's a good chance it may be the location.

Is an old one up there from the late 1800s. Never could find that one.

Yeh ... I can't think of where that might have been ! I wonder how long the Greenwood Saddle Club has been around and if that may have bean offshoot from the old Glory Days of track racing ? Certainly would be a place to start ! They may have some historical information around .

Les there was also a small community called Conquerall Settlement just up past Crystal Falls back around 1870 - 1920 in the Torbrook East area. I know there used to be remnants of the old stone foundations.
Are these the kind of sites you look for ?

Whimpster ..I see an oval shaped feature south of that big farming operation to the the east of town ...Is that It ? It's about 1300 -1400 yards circumference which would make it about a 3/4 mile track.

Start at the United church follow the New road approximately 609 yards or 0.5 kilometer,as you follow the turn to the right the old race course was on the left...there are homes built now but there's a large field behind them..maybe something of interest. If you want to see it on google earth give me your email and I'll send it to you. whimpy@eastlink.ca Cheers Whimpster ..I see an oval shaped feature south of that big farming operation to the the east of town ...Is that It ? Yes there was a track at the Saddle Club in Greenwood. Someone was there who boarded and trained Standardbreds for the track at Bedford. This was in the 70's.

Never know what is around the corner. The old race track is near the base.
