OMG, OMG, OMG ...
OK, so I've been playing in the back yard for the last week just trying to figure out my AT Pro, no digging , just scanning . So with it 16* outside curiosity got the best of me and I just had to start digging at some of those targets I had found . I went to the spot that offered the best possibilty for a find . I honed in and began to dig ... oh cool ..a coin , oh another one ...beep, beep, beep ...wth ? ... beep, beep, beep again ?
Sweet Jesus ...take me Home !
What I ended up pulling out of the one spot was a 1928 penny (King George on it) , a 1939 nickel, a 1940 penny ... and my best find ... a 1919 King George Newfoundland penny ! I'm just sitting upstairs now looking out on the back field and all I can think is ... How the hell did you ever get there ? I'll never look at that field the same way again.

Hey SB,
So where exactly do you live again? Do you go out often? Just wondering that's all....
Those are wicked finds, I hunted for an entire season to get one old 1895 NS large cent and you did it in your backyard first month out! CG, looks like SB got his horseshoe implanted in the same place as mine.
Cheers, DS

DS .. that was my first dig , had done some scanning in the yard before that but had never broke earth. It was so nice yesterday I just had to cut some sod knowing it was going to get really cold. Just goes to show you never know where some little treasures my lie ! I lost my Good Bud, Oscar, several years ago ... he was a Newfoundlander and his last name was Penney .. I'm thinking Big O was just letting me know he's still around.
I'm just out of Lunenburg on the Grimm Rd....Lol !
Speaking of horseshoes I managed to pick up a piece of one , along with half a spoon, a small old pulley, a chunk of iron and the head off a bolt from the ride-on .

Oh yeh DS ...I'm definitely hooked ... I was more excited over a Newfoundland penny than I was over $100G inheritance .. Lol ! ..which incidentally and ironically paid for the Detector.
Got a couple questions ...
1 ... Does frozen ground effect the the abilities of the detector ? 2 ... What do you guys use to clean the dirt and the oxidation from your coins ?

Great finds! Just a tip though, a great yard will spoil you for other areas, I know this all too well! PS: You need to get some pics

Hey Leafs ... in the process of getting a new camera , dropped the ole Fuji just one too many times . Having to take pics with phone for now. It is nice to have the yard to get used to the unit tho Leafs.
Question ...Do you guys use the Vinegar/salt or lemon juice solutions to clean your coins ?
First outing ...1 1/2 hours ... back yard.

For pennies, I use the soak in olive oil for a few weeks, I then use the broken end of a shish kabob skewer to clean the grime off. Seems to work well

Luck is def. part of it C. but when you have a good site, you eliminate some of the "random" luck part.
Maybe the "orchard" was bigger back then ? who knows, but I'll bet there are a couple more coins to be found...
Good luck out there.
