Just wanted to see various opinions or theories on the whole oak island mystery. Do you think there is a large amount of treasure buried there or do you think it's just a bunch of hocus pocus? We're all treasure hunters, so I thought this would be a good discussion topic.

" There are strange things done in the midnight sun By the men who moil for gold; The Arctic trails have their secret tales That would make your blood run cold; "
Ha ha ha ... some of us old fellas will know the origin of that little excerpt !
That's the million dollar question eh ? Hey Les .. they say there is an island for every day of the week here on the south coast we may be a while figuring this one out.
Ironically I got a book on Oak Island for xmas " Oak Island Unearthed " by John Obrien . His theory is that it is of Aztec origin and the remains of Montezuma lie entombed there. He has a really interesting theory on how the Money Pit was designed and worked . Seems very plausible ... but probable ? Lol ! Have a friend who is a server at the Focsle ... if they find anything ... I'll have an inside track to find out !

I would love for them to find something, and I think that's one of the main reasons for so many theories being brought forward. I would love to go dig there though. Another island that has my interest is Isle Haute... In 1952 a man with a metal detector discovered Spanish coins with a skeleton still clutching the coins in his hand. Amazing find!

Here's a quick look at Isle Haute and the hand clutching the coin... ryanbarrytravels.com/?p=2298I still don't believe there's anything on Oak Island. I think there is a lot of commercial interest in propagating the myth. Cheers, DS

Cheers, DS As aircrew on the CP-140, Isle Haute holds a special meaning for us, every time we took off, just after liftoff we we turn on our radar and have to use a point of land to do a navigation fix, Isle Haute always stood out and was the easiest reference point we could find. The coordinates of that island is forever burned in my brain ;-) I also agree with you DS, the Oak Island legend has taken on a life of it's own. The last time a myth took off like that it created a religion, and we see how well that turned out ;-) As much as i would love for the legend of Oak Island to be true, like Santa Claus I decided to let it go many years ago;-) Cheers Tony

Whenever I saw the Sea Kings or fixed wings go down the coast I figured they were looking for something, now I know they were just lost! DS
