Finally got my season off to a start yesterday, friend of mine took me to his private hunting site where I found the french silver last year, this time I struck gold, not sure if he's going to invite me back Here is an overview of the hunt, 11 musket balls, also managed to pull out a PEI penny, got it in the electrolysis bath now. A few silvers But my best find so far is a vintage Masonic 9ct gold FOB. Off to a good start, going to be a hard act to follow, might as well hang up the detectors right now Cheers Tony

You're right Tony, it can only go downhill from here. You might as well give all you're gear away! I have someone in mind. Seriously though, That's a fantastic day out. One you'll never forget. I hope that every outing you have is just as good. and remember, you said you'd take P and I out sometime (wink).
Go get more. Thanks Tony

Thanks Tony Thanks Jordan And yes the offer still stands, I looking for a property that's worth getting you guys down here for. So far the only detecting I've done is on a property that I have been invited to by another detectorist. Once I get my claws into a site that's more than pull tabs and clad, we will have a go. So how's your season going so far? Tony

I've only been to the beach once. An unexpected adventure involving a staircase has slowed me down this spring. I'm hopping to get digging again by the weekend.

That's one hell of a hunt! Gold is always great but the Masonic Gold is awesome! Congrats! Thanks, it was a good feeling, even did a little happy dance. Already had an offer to buy it from someone in the Masons. Think I'm just going to add it to my collection. Cheers Tony

Nice haul Tony! I wouldn't even invite you to Tim's after that thrashing. That Free Masons fob is a majorly cool find. Any idea on the vintage, it looks hand made.
And yes, it would probably be a wise bet to quit while you're ahead. Everything from here on in is going to just be boring stuff as I recall, like French silver and the such...
Cheers, DS

Cheers, DS Hey Paul Managed to decode the hallmark on the back, it was made in Chester England in 1909, rang up in the mid 40's on the ATPro. Don't think it's handmade, you can find many similar examples for sale on the Internet. Still hoping that we can get together for a hunt this summer and I'll buy the coffee this time at Tim's

Two people with gold already, and a cool piece it is.
Now I'd better get out of the damn house. Which I am shortly.
