Nice One Stiver from British Guyana. It's one of my favorite coins. They minted them in disproportionate numbers for the size of the colony because the Atlantic trade triangle took a lot of the coinage away. As a result, many of them ended up in British North America. They are considered to be one of Canada's pre-confederation tokens, even though they were minted and used primarily elsewhere.
A nice addition to any collection.

I have it soaking in olive oil right now, hoping yo make it look even more purdy ;-) Cheers Tony

Whoa, nice dig Tony! Man I try that and all I find is shell casings and Pepsi caps (no, really, that happened...) Those are some really cool find, especially the coins. Any idea what the history on the place was?
Cheers, DS

Any idea what the history on the place was? Cheers, DS Hey DS, I feel your pain. I secured four fields, wanted to return the favour to a detector buddy who took me to several fields where I found french silver and gold. He found nothing, and I manged one NS 1861 half cent, and that's after four fields, that's why I'm hesitant to involve people on my hunts, most are hours of empty swinging and canslaw. Not sure on the history, but I am going to try and figure it out. Like I said, it was a last minute "accidental" permission. Didn't know the area was there, it was a fairly large field and there was definitely a nectar sector, 85% of the field, NADA, nil, nothing, but one section payed out. Cheers Tony

Very nice! Makes me want to try permission for a site I drove by yesterday. Clearly was an old homesite and was just tilled. Never know, eh?

The worst that they can do is say no and shoot you, but it's worth the risk. Was shot down on a site I had my eye on for a while. Very nice polite old man but a resounding no, to bad, this site had some real old potential. Oh well, need to keep looking. Good luck on your permission mission.
