Welcome aboard me bouy. Looking forward to reading about your adventures. Any questions just ask! Thank you for the welcome! My husband found this site for me, looks to be an awesome one! Well, I have a couple of questions,I suppose. Where is a good place to do some treasure hunting in South Western NS ? I have been on Portmaitland beach and found a bit of coins. Also, I now have another question, Does someone have to have permission to do some metal detecting on beaches. I don't want to do anything against the law. I am so eager to find a spot that actually has some "treasure". Would LOVE to find old coins(I collect coins) and jewelry. That would be so exciting!

No permission is needed to detect on beaches. As for treause.....every outting is that and most detectorists keep their spots close to their chests. Try talking to neighbours and such. Cold call on some farmers fields.

Thank you... will do that. We live in an old farm house, with 4 acres of land. I have been off and on hunting our land. Have found a few things, but not really old...yet. Going to go hunt on another beach, hopefully today. Wish me and my husband some luck. I just KNOW there has to be a beautiful ring out there for me to find. :-) Will let you know if we find anything worth bragging about. lol... aye aye have a wonderful day matey! lol

OH MY GOODNESS!!!!!!!!!!!! I was hunting a bit in my yard, close to our house and found these things! A 1925 5 Canadian 5 cent coin(found today)! I also found,a few days ago, an old 1877 silver spoon! Here are some photos of them. Along with the coin,in the same hole, I found a bullet ,but it broke apart before I could take a photo.

Congrats on the 1925 nickle, it's the best year you could find. I guess if your a collector you already know that. Keep hunting your old farm, I'll bet there is lots more there for you.
Complete Silver spoon is a very good find too, I only managed one of those in 8 years.

Complete Silver spoon is a very good find too, I only managed one of those in 8 years. I have found several spoons that I think are silver.. one looks to be gold plated. All them look VERY old.Been finding a lot of old things( old wick holders from old lanterns etc.) It's awesome!
