I have found a lot of coin spills while metal detecting. Most are 3 or 4 coins in the same hole, but NEVER have I found a coin spill that had 77 foreign, yes all foreign, coins in a spill in an area of about 3 sq ft. I was detecting a small park and found it slow going when I decided to hunt a small grassy strip just outside the fence between the road and the parking area. I found a penny and a dime and then I got a funny sounding, mixed signal but the numbers were strange. I thought it was trash and moved on. Then, something in the back of my mind said to go back and check again. From another angle, I got what I thought might be a couple of nickel signals but they were bouncing. What the heck, I had to check it out. It was beginning to get dark and I dug what I thought was a quarter, then another, then a couple the size of a half dollar! DANG! I started digging coins and slipping them in my finds pouch without giving thought to what the coins were. It was getting dark! Finally, as it was getting so dark that I could see no more, I finally pulled the last coin and could not get any more hits in the area. Man, I thought that I had a bunch of clad. Until I got home, that is. The coins are from countries like Italy and Germany but most, I have no idea. The dates range from the late 1940's til the late 1970's. I do not figure they will be worth anything but maybe I will make a display out of them. Anyway, it was fun digging! upload an image

That's pretty cool James. I've never found anything like that.

That is a great find, I think two years ago another member of the forum ended up finding a lots of euro in a coin spill. My biggest spill was probably between 10 and 12 pennies.
