Yes these days it's not only the classics that are forged. Here we have what is called "blacksmith" coins which are period forgeries. One of the best known is the backward date on a thistle token...1382 which should ahve read 1832.
Thanks for the blog and do appreciate your postings and visitations. gearing up for Sept 6 when this Bluenoser once agin invades brant Broughton for 16 days of gathering tribute!

Unfortunately all three are junkers as is the chain. Hit 3 lakes and two playing fields with the Freedom 2 and the Seahunter mk11...no not twins but I'm sure related. Navy Davy was tied up so ventured out on my own. 16 over quota, 3 junkers, a steel ball, dog tag,Brit penny and one I believe is Korean . Another $14 added to the UK fund. Booked and going this year for 16 days as I "compromised" with the Hunny Bunny down from 3 weeks. Leaving the day after Labour Day....and can't wait! Just hope my Pro comes back before the postal service goes on strike!

Happy birthday Canada which helped fill the wallet as last night shift was at double time and a half! Got up at about 1130 hrs with a full 3 hours sleep . Marie was at work with no real plans formulated for later so I headed out. Darn it was a great day with a few clouds.....no wind. Alternated between a dig with the Freedom 3 Plus and a swish with the Seahunter MK11. Voila quota plus 1. Nothing too exciting save for the stop at the cold beer store for a few bottles of Molson's Canadian to quell the built up thirst,, toast our country and Queen! Yes Lizzie is still our queen unbeknown to quite a few of us colonials! No sign of the Pro yet but expect by the end of the coming week she will be back!

After doing the flea market thingie and making a few extra "bob" for the UK trip hit a few fields. Then my Freedom 3 crapped out so out came the Seahunter MK11 and into the drink this bouy did frolic. You can see by the second row of finds why I say I'm "hooked" on this hobby. These were found in a heavily used swimming area. 12 over quota, a Bic that can still flick and a dog tag from the "Nova Scotia' Contingent of the Boy Scouts. Unfortunately no key to the handcuff chain. Done out big time. Time for a beer while watching the C.W.S. and Blue Jays...............heaven from the living room lazy bouy! As for the Pro...they cut me a break on the repairs........totalled $65 Canadian which is cheaper than a new machine. Begged and grovelled......never again. Apparently it was the rubber damaged whereas the male plug in (coil) was not put in right and damaged the female receptor. Looking here and there to see what I'll buy for a new machine.

Took the Freedom 3 Plus out for a spin. Usual clad till I hit the 1976 dollar...not silver but not an every day type of scoff. I ran out of juice before the Freedom 3 Plus and called it a day without achieving quota. Too tired now to go to the stamp club meeting but lots of football on. Watched two games and was pleased that Poland kept Germany to a nil nil draw. No word yet from Doctor Garrett on the Pro.

Took Hunny Bunny and a pair of my Freedom 3 Plus machines for a drive down the valley. Stopped at Tim's,Hennigars and Frenchy's along the way. Then I got to stop at a school while Marie sat in the car and watched "13 to 30" on the portable DVD player. When the movie was done....so was I. Nice pleasant day especially since the rain held off. Dug an over quota of 61 coins @ $7.10, junker ring, fun villa token, heart dewie, star and a Hannah Montana locket. Fun dig and glad I took a backup for my Freedom 3 Plus.......another Freedom 3 Plus with fresh batteries!

GAAAAZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZRRRRRRRRRRRRR. Darn the super for using the whipper snipper at quarter after ten in the morning. Just got to bed at 0710hrs. Got up and saw the dishes on the counter. I have a propensity for dropping or breaking dishes when doing them. Marie has not caught on......just left them, grabbed a Freedom 3 and left Dodge. Back to School Weekend so the schoolyards seemed to be the logical place to get quota. Hit one that I knew was penny rich. Quota is quota! Pennies indeed start a popping with great regularity....wish I was. Anyway in the zone. Nice to hunt a place that was not full of litter. Flashback...I get no respect While in the zone my mind meandered back tooooooooooooooooooooooo.........................it started as soon as I exited the womb and the doctor slapped both of my faces. Dad took a photo of the event which Maw later turned into a poster that promoted me as the poster child for birth control. I get no respect. Mom knew from the onset that I was different. That she had given birth to a full blown digaholic. This fact was nurtured and cultivated by sending me out at an early age to play with "Puddles" who would dig holes which I would crawl into to be buried. Didn't hurt that maw tied a bone to my leg so that Puddles would play with me. I get no respect. Mom's suspicions of my "ailment" were reinforced repeatedly as I would go fishing and bring the catch home to be buried in Grandpa's garden much to his dismay and to the delight of the local feline population that could be heard in the garden each night. My hands were always in the dirt. I would uproot wild plants, flowers and whatever and plant them in my own little patch. It was only later in life that it dawned on me why my mother always wanted to move to Yellowknife NWT where for months at a time there was 24 hour a day sunlight. "Leslie go out and play and don't come home till it gets dark." I get no respect. First tool for the Digaholic Still in my sleep depraved flashback I recalled delivering the morning and evening papers as well as working odd jobs to get my first detector..........a Garrett which to this day I cannot recall the model. Still to this day I am swinging the Garretts and not coming back till dark.............. Back into the dig Snapped out of my flashback. 8 coins to go for quota.....wood chip playground part of the school....foreign coins. Counted my take.oops 5 over quota. Debated with myself over whether I should go for a century (100 coins) or go home before dark and make spaghetti...momma mea!
