So, last year after conducting my end of year cleanup, of my trunk that is, I swore I was going to do something to reduce the 1/2 yard of dirt I collected in it from the past season of digging. I know Les carries his gear in an array of Rubbermaid totes but when you drive a Japanese car with a trunk the size of a matchbox, you gotta be more efficient. One of favorite winter hobbies, other than drinking nice rum, is sewing. Not doilies and handkerchiefs, industrial sewing, man style. I have a Juki 5550 lockstitch machine ($50 swipe off of Kijiji) that can do 5500 stitches per minute through 1/4" plywood, your fingers, etc. So I'm thinking rather than funding Rick's trip to Florida again this year, I'm going to design and make up gear bag for my machine(s) and save a few bucks to buy something else from Rick...
Anyways, question of the day is how do you store your gear in your trunk? Do you use these gear bags from Garret (makers of fine detecting gear since before I was born) or do you steal your kids hockey bag from last season and use it? If you did have a wishlist, what would you include in a custom bag, what do you have to have with you for a serious outing?

Deepseeker, You should think about making a finds pouch that would hold a pro-pointer and a Lesche digging tool...can't find anything decent locally... Might be a way to make a little money during the winter months..but a gear bag might be something to look at also...seeing you already have the machine Whimpster

Very cool score from Kijiji. I'm with Whimpster, I think you really could make some extra coin with that machine. as for a carry bag, I don't really use one. I just carry my detector along my backseat with a blanket to keep the seats clean, and I carry my finds pouch with my Pinpointer/digger belt set-up in the trunk.

Hmmmm, sounds doable. I was going to have a look at making a holster anyways when I get my Propointer next week and see what it'd take. But it'd be nice to incorporate a sheath for a digger as well as a finds pounch for trash and one for good stuff too. If you run across any examples in your travels, email me a pix (pjparusel@gmail.com).
Thanks for the input! Deepseeker
