I got out this morning right after working back shift. Tried a HAMMERED spot in my back yard. This little coil gets great depth! I pulled a penny at around 6" and an old bullet that was 7.5" in the hole, so add the plug to the top of that. I measured the bullet so it was a true 7.5". It was not a solid signal by any means but it was consistent and I would have dug it anywhere.
Just thought I would share in case anybody is on the fence, I would not be afraid of the depth loss with this coil, it is minimal to say the least. I had gone over this area countless times with the stock coil and missed these.
Hoping to get out tomorrow and or Thursday so maybe have a better review then, but so far the little I have used it I like it a lot

I have gotten out for a couple hunts using this 5x8" coil. It works great. I find I am actually able to run at full sensitivity most places whereas I could not with the stock coil, not sure why this is? The depth is VERY close to stock as SPR has already stated. I can confirm everything about better balance on the machine with this coil as well as better target seperation. I am still getting used to swinging a smaller coil and some open areas seem like I would rather a bigger coil BUT at the end of the day my shoulder feels great. I think once I am more used to it the smaller ground coverage will not bother me. Anyway, running this coil with Auto Ground Balance minus 8-10 I can achieve great depth. I don't desire to dig any deeper especially in public places..

I bought mine from Rick at Sweet Dreams Detectors before the prices went up due to our Canadian dollar being so low.It was $165 with the cover, but will be more now. With the way you are digging Clad you will have one paid for in no time! Well worth the money.

With the way you have been digging Clad you will have one paid for in no time! Also if I remember right it does not come with a coil cover, you have to buy that seperate. I always order my stuffs from texas , if i go for it i will buy an extra 2 coils cover for it. with the price of the shipping might as well do it all in one order.

I like to support local when I can and have met Rick in person, hes great to deal with. I'm guessing after shipping and import duties it would be no cheaper to order from the US. That being said I understand if you have dealt with them before and like their service.

As most stuff (probably 98% of all coins) will be in the depth range of that coil, it is the one that will stay on my detector, at least most of the time. I tried the "hockey puck" the other day for all of about 5 minutes. I would label that one to be useless, and would have no advantage over an eliptical shape with a 5 inch width.

I never even considered the Sniper coil. I had one the same size for my old BH and it was used one time for 20 mins.. covering any ground was a nightmare. I probably will throw on my stock coil for open fields but I'm with you the 5x8 will be on most of the time.

I've been using both big coils on my machine lately, bit of a toss up which I like better. The 5 x 9 definitely is better balanced and easier on the arm but doesn't cover ground like the big coil. Can't comment on depth but the small coil naturally does seem to sort through the trash better.
