Was wondering if any of you do a 4 wheeler/Relic hunt type of run . Or if there may be some interest in finding some old sites to prospect?
A Buddy of mine found this up in West Dalhousie while looking for an old plane crash site . Tug left up in the woods from the old Lumbering Days.

I have an ATV but have not utilized it for this purpose yet. I have no way of transporting it at this time, maybe down the road I'll get a trailer or truck!

That's cool! How far off the water is the thing? What vintage? Any more pix you could post?
Thanks! DS

DS ... not to sure on the details or exact location , altho I'm sure I can find out. But it is up in country. Only speculating ... but may have been used to ferry log booms across the lakes to the mills like the ones that were on Armstrong and Shell Camp lakes up in the Dalhousie's. This more than like was from the Davidson Lumber Co. or their successors.

That's really cool. Like finding an airplane at the bottom of a lake. It was good of you to take pictures, thanks.

Great photos still. Know that behind Mill Cove a military plane went down.

That's so cool. Looks like a coat of paint and she'd be ready for the water. Wonder why people abandon things like these? Can't really be that old, maybe 50' or 60's time frame?

Ds ... if this is , in fact, a relic from the Davidson Lumber days it would date back to pre 1921.

I've been doing a bit more research on the Davidson Lumber Co., primarily on the lumber camps . Living in the area of Lunenburg , there is a lot of interesting info on the Company's operations in the 1906 - 1921 era. There was at one time a large mill in an area called Hastings, so named after a US owner. In working on Google Earth I came across this little gem. Now they claim this was a large operation and a lot of the worker cabins were hauled away . Sure would make for an interesting day.... don't ya think ?
