Been awhile since I posted, because it's been awhile since I've been out, but better weather now I may remedy that. I've hammered this particular site for 3 or 4 years now, and was about to give up on it. The site has given me many coppers as old as 1799, and a few silvers which is good for a field, often you get none (at least old ones)this field gave me a 3 cent US Silver 1851, which is a rare find even for the folks south of the border. Anyway I thought I give this spot another try as it's close by, and conditions were not too bad, and it may not ever be mowed again. If you watch the video I say that this may be the last hunt, but given I found 3 coins, I think I'll give it another try before freeze up. The coin finds were an 1856 NS 1P, a 1861 NS 1/2 cent, and a 1888 canada 1 cent, all rough, but is to be expected, good clean old coppers are hard to come by, they corrode easily. And another crotal bell for the collection. Here is the video, at only 2:45 I think it's worth watching, the big copper is a live dig. Have fun out there, good luck in your fall season.

Hey Rick ...It's Chip (Sodbuster) I met you with Todd (Freddy67) in Blockhouse several weeks ago.
I gotta ask ... what is it about that field that made you think there may be something there ? I see a lot of You Tube videos of guys hunting fields ... but unless there is some historical relevance I don't see the attraction.
Love seeing the videos !

sodbuster Chip hi, That was quite a coincidence...good to bump into you. That site...field has / had nothing as an indicator of occupation, nor would it show up on any map as such, it's quite a distance off the road. I believe I said this before I hunt everywhere I can, my best finds / sites have been "random" Research is great, but is no subsitute for leg work in the field, woods, bush. In any case I hunted this site first 3-4 years ago, and came up with a couple of old coppers, and went back many times, like I said in the OP I got several silvers from this place as well (1851 3 cent piece US, and a 1834 6 pence to name a couple). That said I went back the other night, and never got a signal...time to move on. Treasure (old coins) like gold, is where you find it. If it were as easy as reading a book to get an "X marks the spot" then that site would have already been hunted a few times. Again research is great, and I believe in it, but I will say again my best sites, and most spanish silvers I got came from sites that I "stumbled upon" Good luck out there. PS haven't made a video for a long time, as you can see I like to keep them short. Was out today got 27 grams os sterling, and some lead.
