Bluenoser's deep thought on being "politically correct."
It is to the point of being ridiculous , fueled by the media and everyone taking words out of context. Being politically correct is in itself is politically incorrect as it destroys personal expression.
If your last name is Garber.....you should be allowed to have it on your vehicle plate. Another one is offending someone and I suggest the media people who stretch things out of proportion to create news is a plate with "assimilate" on it from a fellow who is a big Star Trek fan. Think I'll go Nova Scotian next vehicle registration get a vanity plate saying "Lord love a Duck on it."
If people feel a need to rewrite the history of our great country by removing "Cornwallis" I'm sure if you dig deep enough every person involved in the settling, making and running this country can have their image stained.
Well then one can get on street names in the HRM. Berlin, Vienna and Micmac.....all offense?
White Point, Black Point.....racist?
Even saying "Hi" can be politically incorrect as I observed in my last visit to Tim's;
Clerk behind the counter says to me "Hi." I being politically correct responded....."High is a height and hello is a greeting. I'm 5'11.Just being a dumb ass Miss." She chuckled as I stood aside to let the person behind me order.
Again the counter lady with a big smile said "Hi" to which the person ordering replied....."Not yet but after work going to get loaded."
It does not cost anything to be polite. I wrote this phrase and live by it. Every male is sir and every female is miss. In todays society even this is not politically correct, misconstrued and made light of with remarks such as a man saying "I'm not sir I work for a living. Sir was my father."
While females seem much more receptive with "Why thank you" or I've been married for 30 years mister" in an enlightened tone.
