Had called a fellow from work whom I had promised to take out but declined as there was a 70% chance for rain. Headed out myself to the old standby. The Dingle which was one of the places that everyone and his dog has done. Felt a tad peppy so I went mountain goating on a few of the trails along side the Northwest Arm determined to get an oldie! What I started getting instead was coppers along with a few modern quarters. As I got to the end of the path I picked up a musket ball and not ten feet away a fishy Vicky from 1893. Got my oldie, headed to Nogo so that I could pick Marie up from work. Too long an outing for this bouy. For those not familiar with Canadian coinage here is a brief explanation of our five cent piece. From the time that Canada minted their first coins as a country 5 cent pieces were made of silver and about the size of "fish scale" thus the nickname of the piece as a fish scale. This went on till 1921 where most of the 5 cent pieces were recalled and melted. Canada was a world leader in the production of Nickle so the coins were then made of that and of the same size as today.
