This is a draft work of a complaint I am going to submit regarding the lack of service
For over twenty years I have been a customer of this gas station. The employees were always friendly, courteous and professional. Several months ago I approached you and made a comment regarding one of your staff members who seemed rather curt and "put out" every time I came to the store for gas or lottery tickets. Things have gotten worse over the last period whereas service is extremely slow, no greetings nor conversation as well as no effort made when my points card or gas card did not work. It has gone to the point whereas I will drive through the lot and not stop at the store when she is working unless I'm on empty. On Saturday around 11am I stopped in the gas lane and put the gas hose in my car. The lady who was working saw me as I was the only car in the lot. She continued shoveling the lot by the next gas island.
I waited for over five minutes while she continued her task; still the only customer at the pumps. During this time she did look my way as I was standing near the gas tank on my vehicle. Eventually I pulled the hose out of the gas tank and put it back on the pump and drove away.
In these trying times one still expects common courteous which reminded me of a golden rule that served me through my years as a policeman and teacher, "It does not cost anything to be polite." During my teaching years I worked at "Bill Manley's Irving during my down time as I played ball with him and he was having staffing problems. One thing I related to Bill was that the young staff were not attentive to customers and I informed him of this saying that; "A customer is not an interruption of the workplace but the reason for it."
I have never felt compelled to write a complaint during my 66 years but feel this is warranted.
A former customer,
