From the land of the Bluenose....."Great White Ice Bear" of the Ice Flow Jumping Tribe (Navy Davy) felt the stirring in his chest. A moon away as the crow flies "Nocancook of the North" of the Open Fire Tribe felt the same thing! The spirit of the hunt filled their chests. Nacancook sent up a smoke signal and Giant Ice Bear arrived with his squaws hunting horse. A quick stop at white mans trading post for hot dark water with bitter taste and they were ready to hunt! Mother Earth was hard. She had not put her warm white blank on. Great White Ice Bear plunged his weapon into her bossum and screamed at the sky. He was happy. A sign that he had not spoke to his dream catcher in vain! As the hunting tool again and again plundged from both hunters the sky became black. The white blanket did fall from the sky. A warning! A warning left by the white men with their canoes of clouds! Great White Ice bear and Nocancook mounted their steed and headed away from the black clouds. Back at the lodge both hunters who had braved the cold were told by their squaws, "Keep those cold hands off me and near the fire." Mother Earth had given Great White Ice Bear her soul. Nocancook offered up his days hunt. Yet another warning? In a language unknown to him. Was it a tatonka? Was it owned by a spirit beast with big teeth? The lodges that cold night were filled with song!
