Down the highway, to the dirt road, that led to the campground, that was in a field, by a tree strand beside a river. Once again Lloyd had given Navy Davy and I permission (5th year) to hunt his campground. Explained to him we wanted to stay out of the wooded areas as deer season opened last week. Got a laugh out of him. I also enquired if any one had mentioned anything specific that was lost. He retorted that 2 sets of keys had been misplaced this camping season. As always the view was...well.....inspirational! The dig was on with ND and his Tecknitics and I the old Freedom 3 (which is now one of 3 like 7 of nine...I can only wish) with the Pro in the trunk for backup. ND was doing the areas closest the river scoring coins. I was at the lower end....getting soakers as this as$ worn sneakers. Half way through the dig Navy Davy metamorphosed into ...into...Jason...all three of the Michael Myers from the Halloween movies! Scary as halibut me son! Take Jamie Lee Curtis any day! I took one of my finds and dialed 911 to no avail! ND calmed down after digging a few more coins! Went back to Lloyd's and left him some goodies that we found in his campground. Shortly thereafter it was a stop at PetroCan for fuel for his car and pop for us. Satisfing day out. ND's take minus the knife and tent pegs.....at least I didn't have to look over my shoulder on the way home! Bluenoser's take minus the cell phone...quota plus 9 added to the fund.

A cleansing was required. Not one of the body but of the soul and mind. Day to day stress with it's relentless hounding had to be purged. Digaholics know how to accomplish this. The Freedom 3 Plus was placed in my cars trunk. The parking lot was vacant; or so I thought. Before I could exit Nogo a pair of deer emerged from the haze of the forest. Unconcerned by any presence. They eventually evaporated into the mist. The machine was turned on as I went deeper into the park only to be engulfed by the shear beauty of the forest. Each leaf was a collage of effervescent gold, yellow, orange and green. Gentle winds played their tunes threw the leaves causing many to glide earthward. To blanket the earth for the upcoming season. The wind was the only sound...an occasional bell tone from the Garrett. Anger, pain, grieve and stress evaporated with a calm inheriting my inner being. The time to head back was approaching . The noise from the road could now be heard Melancholy. Nirvana was put aside. In the parking lot reality once again took hold with this message. In my pocket the other reality...13 pennies.

Nice looking wheels. Not a very big market for those here but then again it seems Korea and Japan too plentiful. Never heard of a Saab Car Club here......yet!

Decided to spend some quality time with my pa so it was off to steak darts at the 50 Plus Club. Hell it was nice to be the youngest amongst the crowd. Got paired up with a couple of nice blue haired ladies and promptly lost 4 of our 7 games. No steak there.....strike one! Tied my father for high score with a 140 and we had a play off of 9 darts total score...beat me by 12. No steak there.....strike two! Then headed out to a nearby park to get quota. Settled for a half quota as I ran out of time as I wanted to catch the New England/Buffalo game. Had a Pro line bet with Buffalo to win....no steak there.....strike three. However the day was not a total loss as pa gave me permission to haul more stuff and store it in his shed ( mostly eyeball stuff I dragged home from digs)thus getting the Honey Bunny in a good mod while adding to the "Must get three weeks in the UK Fund." Also had to think long and hard as James from the Rio Grand Valley Metal Detecting Club sent me a post whereas 2 Freedom 3's were for sale............................ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

Friday.....day off.....oh joy! With the mandatory stop at Rotten Ronny's for coffee and a breakfast sandwich, which I might add that Navy Davy won a free medium fries on the Monopoly game we were off down the highway. Drove to a not so local park that we do once a year. Air was crisp, grass was wet and the park ripe for the pickings. Nice to be swinging amongst the kaleidoscope of clours of the fall leaves. Very peaceful save for the hordes of Canadian Geese flying over head. They were loud and sounded like a group of ladies in the bargain basement of a department store. Mind you if certain people heard me say that I would be out of the dog house and into the outhouse in a flash! When all was said and done Navy Davy ended up with 36 coins swinging his Tecknetics while I 34 with the old reliable Freedom 3 Plus. ND dropped me off home and I jumped in Nogo, did a few errands and continued my dig at a local park to complete quota. Of course within 5 coins of my goal the heavens opened up. Bagged the Freedom in a nice new clear Glad bag. Found a head , another dinkie and the missing quota coins while in the process this numb nuts got totally drenched in the down pore. Such is the fixation of quota. Once home the call came............off to work on my day off.......oh joy!

Woke up well before the sun. Was blessed today as the water was shut off on our street so no wash, no dishes or baking a cake. Decided there and then that another visit to the park down the valley was in order. Took the Pro and Freedom for the journey along with a Rotten Ronnies cappuccino. Um...won a muffin on the monopoly game! The park was vacant with the sun just peaking through the clouds as I started to swing the Freedom 3 Plus. Gridded of the entire park and was joined by my friend Jim K of the UK...only in my mind I guess as I had left too early to call Navy Davy! Lent him my pro but he seemed more interested in yaking. Anyway the gridding took a little over 2 hours with the oldest coin a 1928 wheatie with a handful of the tokens. Over quota. Think it only fitting that the figurine I found was of a bear which is featured on the Labatt's token. Added a neat old button plus a musket ball intact. My friend he just.................faded away!

Neither the rumour or wind of war had reached Windsor. Marie and I hit the park where the Labatt's Brier tokens had been found the other day. Needed to dig up enough coinage to help with the resistance movement in Kentville. It had been invaded and was now occupied by the Pumpkin's Army Group West supported by a mechanized division. After leaving the hamlet of Windsor we penetrated the front line into enemy territory. The horror.....the horror. It became immediately apparent that the P.P.R..A.(Pumpkin People's Republican Army) was using banned chemical weapns that had backfired, inflicting its deadly toxin amongst its own army! Marie tried to infiltrate with a high ranking officer to no avail! She was captured sentenced to 20 minutes on the "swing." Inhumane I say.....inhumane! I had better results hooking up with a collaborator code named "Jimmy K of the UK." He helped me overcome the driver of the Pumpkin Tiger tank Mk V. I let those orange skinned heathens have it! Shells and seeds were splattered everywhere.....orange goo! Marie was freed but I had to maintain high alert as those orange skinned devils could easily blend in with the foliage. I imagined that after our departure there was plenty of pumpkin muffins, pie and pumpkin soup to feed the locals. The "dig" for resources to fund the resistance continued till it was time to move on to the Berwick Command. There a park was ripe with recruits but no quota could be reached as the call to duty at the local dinner beckoned us. After a decent meal we turned home with the funds! Once home P.T.D.S. (post traumatic diggers syndrome) hit me as on the tube a battle south of the Canadian Border was raging between Dallas and Green Bay. As Sgt Rock of the Dell Comic Commandos often said, "War is hell!"

Decided at the last minute after picking up my computer at the repair shop to go for a dig. Never ceases to amaze me how the Pro and Freedom 3 end up in the trunk! Altered machines once again starting in one park with the Pro for half the quota and a nice little silver ring then moving on to another place and using the Freedom. Silver "O", key, dewies and quota plus 10 for the 2 mighty Garrett's. Looking to build a three week UK Fund this year!

Took advantage of our super nice weather and headed towards Windsor where I planned on a few visitations. First stop was at "Makingholes" who is now retired from the hobby due to health issues. Good to chew the fat. One can tell he still has the desire to get out there if he could. Next on the agenda was a stop at Saundra's. Haven't been to see her since her sister passed away. It was at this location that, a few years back I had written an article for W&E Treasure mag. After a cup of Joe I was on my way for a dig. Had the Pro and Freedom 3 Plus in the trunk and started at the first stop with the Freedom which netted a dinky, some clad and a 1906 quarter. Headed to another spot and took out the Pro. At this park a pair of 1995 Labatt's Brier tokens (large silver looking coins) were scoffed. Shortly thereafter pulled this out which made the older ticker miss a beat! My first thought was ....what is it followed by is it real? Going back to Nogo I grabbed my specs out of the glove box and examined the coin.................it was not to be for as I turned the coin over I was greeted by the word...."copy." The pulse went back to normal...just my luck! Speaking of luck what are the odds of this happening..................at darts the other night my first throw just barely stuck in under a double 11. Next shot hit the wire and fell to the floor.........3rd shot I wasn't even close to the double. Went up to the board, bent down to pick up my dart...and the one just barely in the board fell out striking me in the head. Lord love a duck I was some glad my head is as thick as a brick. Anyway the finds for this dig was 1906 quarter, dinkie,2 Labatts tokens, "Dusty's" dog tag and 22 coins over quota totaling a little over $14
