Good Day All, I just ordered a detector from Rick and can't wait to start. I've always wanted to give this hobby a try and just decided to give it a shot. I think I’ll be hunting mostly on beaches to start as those are theclosests public places. Are there any good tools or tricks of the trade to sift/dig in sand? Thanks in advance
Shaun

Hey Shaun,
Here's a sand sifter I made out of a tobacco tub, and a small piece of rubber hose. Cost = 0
Just drill it full of holes, 5/8 inch max., 1/2 inch is good too. Fostner bits work well in the thin plastic, not leaving too much burr. 1 inch bit for the thumb hole. split a small piece of rubber hose such as used for windshield wiper washer fluid on your car, and line the thumb hole with this hose.
For a digger, you can just go to canadian tire and get a gardening trowel the "yard works" with a wooden handle seems pretty tough for me.... so far.
