Just lucky to find a place to hunt this time of year. Got just one coin on each of the last two hunts. 1769 Hibernia half penny, that is well worn, but little to no corrosion, which is pretty rare...for me. And got this decent Nova Scotia half cent a couple of days ago.

I noticed something odd about the Hibernia HP right off and that is the "N" in hibernia is actually an "S" ? Look carefully at the pic. On another forum found out it is a rather rare "EVASION" token. For those that don't know what that means, at that period in time more than half the coppers in the colonies were counterfeits, new laws came out with severe penalties for counterfeiting, so what they did was to change the legends, some are very different, and like this one just a couple of letters changed, as the last letter in GEORGIVS is actually a "3". You can see it quite well in this pic.

Very cool finds Rick! Thanks for the history lesson.
In another post I mentioned to CG that I also have a 1861 NS half penny. They obviously must has produced them in batches and not annually.
Best, DS

Best, DS Yes half cents only produced for 2 years 1861, and 1864, the full cent 1861, 62, 64. The '62 is quite scarce indeed, I've found many of all of these years, both sizes, some are in very good condition, but not a 1862 cent...yet.
