Well in a thousand years since...politics is still the best whine out there!

Didn't want to post another comment on your blog as I already have several on there but I think this will be on topic.
I was reading a thread on the technical " detector " forum and it was about a youtube video with a family in the park. They were there with shovels just tearing up the park and having a good ole time. The person that was telling about the video and sharing the link on the forum is a good guy and was bringing it to the attention of the people on the forum. He even commented on the video and the family that was tearing up the park were nice about it and said they were new to the hobby and weren't thinking about what damage they were doing.
I commented on the video and provided a link to my wife's thread on that forum " Thing that negatively effect the hobby " and told them they were doing a terrible job and they commented back to me on the video apologizing and saying they were new. THEY HAD NO IDEA and I really felt sorry for them. Not everyone reads these forums. I then commented back and told them about the thread ( about them ) on the forum and provided a link to it. They then removed the video from youtube. I felt that I achieved a small victory but I felt sorta sad as this family was having a great time detecting and posting the video.
When I commented back to them (before they removed it ) I told them not to feel bad as there were some on that forum that probably did more damage to the hobby by previously trying to stop discussion on issues such as this. I could have drug it out a little longer and tried harder to get my name mentioned on that forum, as I've been known to do at places, but the important thing was that a video such as that should not be on youtube as it really looked bad for the hobby. I didn't ask them to remove it and I think they decided to when they were aware that it was being discussed on a forum.
I still feel bad for the family as they had no idea they were doing anything wrong and it's hard to comment on a video like that and put a damper on that fun. I hope they keep the video as a reminder of their outing in the park and I doubt they will show it publicly again. It was more of a cold beer evening than a wine evening. If I would have gotten mentioned on the forum or if they wouldn't have been so nice, wine may have been in order.
