Good day all, and thank you for having me!
I'm new to the hobby, outside of some kidding around with an old "Sears special" when I was a kid.
My interest comes from some old "Nova Scotia Militia" Buttons my father found years ago. Someday I hope to do as well.
I've got my eye on a new detector, but I'm under orders not to buy any "toys" for myself before Christmas.
Hope to meet some of you in the future.

Welcome to the site and this great hobby, what do you have in mind for a first machine?

Hey Button boy,
Anywhere close to Kentville ?
I'd be happy digging a nice button too.
I already have permission for quit a bit of land, and spare detectors to boot. So if you seriously want to hook up, just say so, this year is winding down fast. (the future is now)

To TreasurDiggrNY: Since I'm starting out fresh in the hobby, and with only newbie skills, I'm looking at a Fisher F2 machine. I've done a bit of research online and this seems to be a pretty good "starting" machine. What are your thoughts?
To Slickpick Rick: Yeah, I'm very close to you, I'm in Cambridge. In fact I've been checking out your online store to get ideas. I'd love to do a bit of detecting with you, thanks for the offer.

I have an F2, just used it on the beach today, I'm putting the post up after I'm done here, check it out. I originally bought it for my boys to use when they go out with me. It is a great beginner machine in that you don't have too many buttons to mess with, you just turn it on and go. It is so easy to "X" your target to pinpoint with and the batteries last forever. Good Luck
