Hello to all of you up north from the UFO capital of the world. (Roswell NM USA) I have been messaging with Leslie and he invited me to drop in and say hello so here I am. I hope you all are starting to thaw out. We are having very weird weather here. Several weeks ago we had below zero temps and gas cut offs and tomorrow it will be over 80 degrees here. Go figure. I have been able to get out and detect several times in the lst several days. I am using an old school detector but haveing great fun. Garrett Masterhunter ADS VLF-TR and have 4 different coils. 4 1/2 inch sniper coil, 7 1/2 inch, 14 inch and sharpshooter probe coil. I just got into metal detecting and got into it for free so I'm haveing a lot of fun learning my old machine and finding lots of stuff. A bad day detecting beats the best day at work.

Yeah sure does. Welcome NH.
That is some temperature swing. We should be able to get going in the next 2 to 3 weeks. Provided snow melts at a rate of one foot a week, which it won't be doing today.
You are in a great place to find meteorites too. I would think so anyway. They would be a pretty rewarding find, financially too. space junk, no pun intended.
How about gold in your state ?
Free equipment, now that's a sweet deal.
Rick

Yep we have alot of gold or so I am told. I have not gotten out to look for my share as of yet. We also do have some space rock around here, in fact the other day I was just up the street from my house detecting in a small park when an old timer pulled up and started talking about detecting. He pulled an even older machine out of the back of his car and then pulled out a space rock he had found on his property outside of town. Wish we could get some of the snow you have as we really need the moisture but heck this is the desert after all. Ow well stay warm and dry.

Good day to you Newbiehunter and welcome aboard!
As a fellow newbie (Only started late last fall), I'm sure you'll find lots of friendly faces here to answer any questions you might have.
Looking forward to seeing some of your finds. Are you "hoping" to find anything special?

Buttonboy, I kind of look at it this way, everytime I get to go out is like a new adventure, everything I dig up is a piece of someone's history. I would like to find some jewelry, that would make the wife happy but what ever I find is cool with me. If I find something of value it's great and if it's just junk then I cleaned up some place and maybe keep someome from getting hurt on a piece of rusty metal. I like to hunt, fish and camp so I figure I will take the old machine with me and explore my camp sites etc... Steve
