Thought it only fitting that I hit a few football pitches today in honour of the big Portugal-France game. In my "boot" was the Freedom 3 as I "headed" out to the field which was not "out of bounds." Was an over cast morning with rain threatening. First field was the same on I had done yesterday and produced the same results.....pennies. Was a disregarded basketball on the the so I played a game of "kick" the ball and follow. Makes for an interesting grid. Small things amuse small minds! Tired of this field and moved to a "substitute' one. 41 coins into quota the heavens opened up so I Glad bagged the Freedom and continued on soaked. "Full time" as a few over quota signalled the end of the dig. Sure I would get a few "penalty kicks" from the honey bunny when I got home. Think she just washed the floors this very morning. Anyway on the way home stopped at the smart shop and joined up with Capt Morgan so that I would have someone to watch the match with. Then a stop at Petro Can for some gogo juice for Nogo along with a few lottery tickets for the next draw. Was a young lad working who rang up my purchases as I inserted my debit card for the tickets and gas..............was $24! "Yo man you got your head in gear" I said to the bouy! "What?" as he answered rather defensively. "You didn't charge me $36 for the gas!" "Oh thank you.....thank you!" Sure the kid was bent out of shape like a few of the coins I had found this day. If it had been an adult and not a young lad I would have had 2nd thoughts about bringing the error up. I'm sure the money would have come out of his pocket when the shortage would be discovered at the end of his shift. At that rate the bouy would have had to pay to work there. Hope the "Big Guy" noticed my honesty and hears my prayers for a Portugal win and the Pro coming home soon. Once home I had my second shower of the day.....this one inside and with my clothes off........sure that too will impress the Honey bunny! Such is the life of a digaholic!

Took the Freedom 11 out today for a spin. Stopped at the Scotia Bank to exchange some canuck money to British pounds with the rate of $1.79 per pound. My teller also informed me that the bank will no longer take "dirty" money or dug up change even if it cleaned and rolled. Has to go to the Bank of Canada in Halifax. No problem as the Scotia Bank has just raised all its service fees and gives on less service! Another reason I dislike banks! On the flip side I sure could jam a lot of vending machines with the cash....lol! Took near 3 hours for quota plus one with a key. A mere $3.58 for the fund. Still no sign of the Pro coming back from Garrett.

Yes these days it's not only the classics that are forged. Here we have what is called "blacksmith" coins which are period forgeries. One of the best known is the backward date on a thistle token...1382 which should ahve read 1832.
Thanks for the blog and do appreciate your postings and visitations. gearing up for Sept 6 when this Bluenoser once agin invades brant Broughton for 16 days of gathering tribute!

Unfortunately all three are junkers as is the chain. Hit 3 lakes and two playing fields with the Freedom 2 and the Seahunter mk11...no not twins but I'm sure related. Navy Davy was tied up so ventured out on my own. 16 over quota, 3 junkers, a steel ball, dog tag,Brit penny and one I believe is Korean . Another $14 added to the UK fund. Booked and going this year for 16 days as I "compromised" with the Hunny Bunny down from 3 weeks. Leaving the day after Labour Day....and can't wait! Just hope my Pro comes back before the postal service goes on strike!

Happy birthday Canada which helped fill the wallet as last night shift was at double time and a half! Got up at about 1130 hrs with a full 3 hours sleep . Marie was at work with no real plans formulated for later so I headed out. Darn it was a great day with a few clouds.....no wind. Alternated between a dig with the Freedom 3 Plus and a swish with the Seahunter MK11. Voila quota plus 1. Nothing too exciting save for the stop at the cold beer store for a few bottles of Molson's Canadian to quell the built up thirst,, toast our country and Queen! Yes Lizzie is still our queen unbeknown to quite a few of us colonials! No sign of the Pro yet but expect by the end of the coming week she will be back!

After doing the flea market thingie and making a few extra "bob" for the UK trip hit a few fields. Then my Freedom 3 crapped out so out came the Seahunter MK11 and into the drink this bouy did frolic. You can see by the second row of finds why I say I'm "hooked" on this hobby. These were found in a heavily used swimming area. 12 over quota, a Bic that can still flick and a dog tag from the "Nova Scotia' Contingent of the Boy Scouts. Unfortunately no key to the handcuff chain. Done out big time. Time for a beer while watching the C.W.S. and Blue Jays...............heaven from the living room lazy bouy! As for the Pro...they cut me a break on the repairs........totalled $65 Canadian which is cheaper than a new machine. Begged and grovelled......never again. Apparently it was the rubber damaged whereas the male plug in (coil) was not put in right and damaged the female receptor. Looking here and there to see what I'll buy for a new machine.
